Press release introducing Nelson Miller Group
July 18, 2023, City of Industry, CA
Nelson Miller, Inc. and Chainlogix are pleased to announce their unification under a new brand name: Nelson Miller Group. In January of 2022, Nelson Miller's ownership group, New Water Capital, acquired Chainlogix and announced plans to merge the two companies. The rebranding represents the company's next step in its evolution and continually growing capabilities.

"Our new name is rooted in a long history of stability and success," said Jim Kaldem, President and CEO of Nelson Miller Group. "In keeping 'Nelson Miller', we acknowledge our 85-year legacy of creating custom engineered components, devices, and box-build assemblies. Looking to the future, we've included the word 'Group' to denote our expanding portfolio of industries, domestic engineering expertise, supply chain management services, and global footprint."
Nelson Miller Inc. was formed in 2011 through the merger of two Los Angeles metal manufacturing companies, Miller Dial, founded in 1937, and Nelson Nameplate, founded in 1946. Since then, Nelson Miller has become a leading global supplier of membrane switches, silicone rubber keypads, graphic overlays, metal nameplates, light guides, modules, assemblies, and custom applications.
With the addition of Chainlogix, founded in 1998 as Visiontech Solutions Group (VSG), Nelson Miller Group supplements its advanced offshore sourcing and technical sales capabilities for engineered components and assemblies, as well as longstanding expertise in full service, end-to-end supply chain management.
The companies were acquired by New Water Capital, a leading private equity firm focused on companies in industrial manufacturing and services, in October 2021 (Nelson Miller) and January 2022 (Chainlogix). The creation of Nelson Miller Group creates a platform that is uniquely focused to develop, produce, and support the engineering, design, manufacturing, and supply chain management of niche, complex components and fully assembled products in high-reliability end markets.
Matt Carlos, Principal at New Water Capital, said of the merger, "Through the combination of Nelson Miller and Chainlogix, the growing enterprise will have access to expanded engineering and supply chain management resources, while leveraging captive electromechanical assembly and functional printing capabilities. Based on our successful track record of building and growing industrial technology providers, we believe the combination positions the platform perfectly for continued expansion and growth."
